The View from Here

I’ll be honest, I’ve been here at Skyline College for a while now. The main reason why I’ve been here for so long is because I did not know what I wanted to do with my life, or what I wanted to major in while in college.

As far as I know, this is one of the biggest problems student seem to have when starting college, because at this point in life it’s hard to know for a certainty what the future holds for oneself and where life will take them.

This uncertainly is a subject that I encountered after high school. It did take a while before I finally arrived at my current major, which is, lo and behold, Journalism. With this major I could finally say for certainty that I finally found the major that I was interested in, but more importantly it was a window into other majors and by far it has been a worthwhile experience since then.

At this point, I’m already starting my applications to transfer since transfer month is here. If you’re a student and are ready to transfer I’ll suggest that you start applying right this moment as it only gets worse later in the month as deadlines slowly creep closer.

Also (changing tracks) traditionally, in my experience, it is about this time of the semester that students begin to falter and teachers begin to show signs of exhaustion as the semester passes the halfway point.

But if you have come this far, now isn’t the time to falter. However if like me, a break is what is needed then taking a few days to rest from school is something that should be done ( preferably over the weekend). If some “R and R” from college is what is needed to revitalize yourself before marching on with the rest of the semester, then so be it.

Still, moving oneself forward until the end of the semester is far easier said than done, as can be said about many things from writing an essay to finding a job. It is far easier to say something then to say it and actually do it yourself, and thus ensuring that it becomes a reality.

So as we approach the middle of November, it also brings us closer to the end of the semester. If not keep pushing forward with whatever energy that you’ve got, keep going until the end of the semester.
