The View from Here – half way to the end, you’ve got to keep trucking along

It’s that time of the semester again and we’re half way to the end of the year. I’m pretty sure that I can say with confidence that this has been an interesting experience as the Editor in Chief and managing The View.

Looking at the first half of the semester in the newspaper, there are certain areas that we’ve not been able to perfect yet, Multimedia and Social Media for example. These are areas we are still trying to get up and running.

I say this because while Twitter and Facebook are up and functioning with frequent updates over the course of the semester, the same can’t be said of TSV’s Instagram or our YouTube page.Another problem is we have not been actively interacting with the community. One of the main causes for these problems, is we don’t have enough returning staff. So in short we don’t have someone to manage the social media side of things. At the end of the day, it is what it is.

You make do with what you have, after all.

That said, I guess I should be getting down to business. As mentioned above, our Twitter and Facebook have been active and updated with new articles. On the other hand our Instagram hasn’t been updated, but hopefully it’ll be updated soon. Another thing is that our Multimedia really hasn’t been started mostly due to things getting in the way, like school and real life.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago it doesn’t help that we’re short handed as far as Editor positions. It’s not a big problem since we have all the important sections covered. If you’re wondering what these sections are then don’t be surprised these sections are News, Features, Opinions, Entertainment, and Sports. Sections that you can certainly see in both our print and the online edition.

That said, moving back to my starting point, it is after all half way into the semester and I can say, with certainty, that I’m feeling tired. Very tired and trust me when I say that, I’m tired and I wouldn’t be surprised if your classmate, friends, or teachers feel the same way at this time.

I’m sure that you have heard this before but now is not the time to surrender to the burden of college, work, or whatever hardships that are placed upon us. It doesn’t matter if you’re a teacher or student, it affects us all in various degrees depending on what’s happening in our lives. At the end of the day, it’s still a burden on our shoulders.

So keep working and stay focused on the task at hand. Keep studying and working towards getting a A or B grade in your class. I mean look at the bright side of the situation at least Halloween and Thanksgiving are almost here and hopefully, it’ll be a good time to get some needed rest and relaxation from college for a while.
