De Anza College defeated our men’s soccer team 3-2 on Oct. 27.The game had just started, with people still finding their seats and getting comfortable, when the Trojans scored the first goal less than five minutes into the game. The goal was scored by forward/midfielder Dylan Crist, #12.Skyline kept the pressure on and after some good plays by our team, scored a second goal-this time by midfielder William Sardinah, #10. However, despite this very impressive start, De Anza eventually caught up and scored two goals to tie the score up.Things were close between the two teams but De Anza got lucky as the game drew to a close. They scored their third game-winning goal near the end of the match. There was some confusion among the crowd about the goal as it did not look like a legitimate one. There was a cluster of players in front of the goal and suddenly the ball appeared out of nowhere. The goal looked to be some kind of fluke and was not the fault of the goalie nor due to a lack of defense. However, the referee ruled it good so the final score of the game was 3-2 in De Anza’s favor.Overall the Trojans played very well and never stopped stop fighting, maintaining their high level of performance and intensity. Unfortunately time simply ran out and they lost because De Anza had a bit of luck in the last few minutes with their random goal. Our team looked more prepared than before and performed impressively throughout the game. Even with some difficulties, they showed good defense and a lot of team effort.Despite not winning this game against De Anza, the men’s soccer team is constantly improving and has had some great moments to celebrate, such as their recent huge win over Las Positas.Unfortunately, the soccer season is almost over-our Trojans only have three games left, two of which are away games and one last home game. If you want to support our men’s soccer team, come to the last home game to cheer them on. Skyline will take on Foothill College on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
