Do you really wear enough perfume to empty a 1.7 oz bottle of perfume? What about a 3.4 oz? What about five separate perfumes?
The majority of the time, those who enjoy fragrances know that in reality we can’t buy several bottles of perfume and expect to wear them all. I only have 3 bottles of perfume and I know that it will take me more than five years to use every last drop – imagine what you can do.
Nowadays we can’t all afford to buy every fragrance we fancy, especially when they run $55+ a bottle. Sometimes we try on so many perfumes and we love them all, but we know it’s well beyond our budget. So how do we have our cake and eat it too?
Although we won’t always get all the glamor and packaging and the gorgeous bottles we fall in love with, there are many ways for you to get more perfume for less money.
Samples: If there are some fragrances that you like, but aren’t really willing to buy a 3.4oz bottle of, ask for samples. At bigger department stores, if you look like you’re seriously considering buying a fragrance or the person helping you is very nice; they will give you samples because they want you to buy something!
Fragrance Festivals: These are in-store semi-annual events that are held at Nordstrom once in the winter and once in the spring. These are private events in which you must pay, and the store usually closes off the floor or a section to display all the new and most popular fragrances of the season. Often they include little quizzes throughout the event and offer prizes of perfume kits or accessories for free. This is one of the best ways to hear about all the new perfumes, grab samples and decide which ones you want. Not only that, but at these events, perfumes are sold in kits – usually with lotions or body washes – and sometimes the brands even offer more gifts to go along with your purchase.
Discount deals: Costco Wholesale sells perfumes, many of them popular and designer ones, for cheaper than the original retail price sold at most department stores. The only problem is that Costco’s selection is somewhat limited, but if you’re looking for a popular fragrance (such as Ed Hardy, Diesel or Cartier), you may find it here for up to $20 discount.
