Skyline’s women’s soccer team is looking good this season.

The first game of the semester against West Hills, Lemoore wins 3-0. Skyline defeated Mendicino County College on September 1, in a 1-0 victory that left Skyline’s goalie, Marie Torres, all by herself for the majority of the game.

The fact of the matter is, Skyline played a great offensive game, keeping control of the ball for most of the game.  Hard-work and careful tactics were principle for the Trojan lead.

In the second half of the game, Amanda Downing passed the ball to Midori Sera, who shot the winning and only goal. The team used their knowledge of the weather conditions, so in the second half of the game, they took advantage of the wind’s force.

The lone goal of the game was shot six minutes into the second half of the game. Sera, who sustained a mild injury, was bandaged up while the opposing team respectfully took a knee while waiting to see if Sera was okay.  As it turned out, she was able to continue playing for the rest of the game.

“This is a very good team,” said Kevin Corsiglia, Head Coach of the women’s soccer team. “They work hard.”

Corsiglia believes they have the possibility of making the playoffs.
