Steroids and Domestic violence… OH MY! That’s the sounds going around the world right now. We are only into the 2nd month of the year and so much has already happened. We have baseball players taking Steroids; we have the first ever African American President of the United States and on top of that all, celebrities are going to jail due to domestic violence.
You hear all the time on TV and on the Internet how celebrities are going to jail due to domestic violence. The males are always beating the females, and going to jail, the latest victims being umbrella singing Rihanna and the baby face singer all the girls love, Chris Brown. On February 11, 2009, Chris Brown went to a Los Angeles jail for beating an unnamed woman who later turned out to be Rihanna. Rihanna and Brown apparently have been going through a lot of arguments as of late. Their latest argument was on Feb.10th, at a pre-Grammy party, the couple got into a huge argument where they were calling each other all kinds of names back and fourth in front of a huge crowd which they just ignored. The next day Brown and Rihanna were in a car on their way to the Grammys when yet another fight broke out. This fight, however, ended up with Rihanna getting hit several times in the face, scratched, and even bit in the arm. Someone called the LA Police and Chris Brown left on foot. He then later turned himself in on $5000 bail. Rihanna has decided not to help out the LA police with the investigation because she was “afraid that brown being in jail would mess up his singing career.” According to an online source, Chris Brown and Rihanna were seen during Presidents Day weekend kissing and making up. Talk about Rihanna being a role model to females. Oh, and speaking of being a role model to people, how about the fact that we have baseball players that our kids look up to taking steroids?Since the year 2000, 600 baseball players have been tested for Steroids. The results of this; 100 players have been tested positive for it. Since 2002 when Former San Francisco Giants left-fielder Barry Bonds appeared to the giants training camp buffer then ever, the media came up with the conclusion that Barry Bonds is now taking steroids. Everything that Bonds has done since 2002 that was related to baseball, most people feel that he could not do without taking steroids. For example, in 2003 when he made a record-setting 73 homeruns, everyone felt that he would not have done that without taking steroids, and in 2007 when Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron’s record for the all time home run leaders, everyone felt that it was due to the steroids. People even went so low that a baseball fan who bought the ball on EBay decided that it would be cool if he put an asterisk on the baseball and send it to Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame office. Now in 2009 nothing is changing. As of February 1st, 2009, Alex Rodriguez has admitted to using steroids. Alex Rodriguez, aka A-Rod, told the media in an interview on February 17, 2009 that it was his cousin who gave him the steroids and he used it during his 2001, 2002, and 2003 baseball season. Now all eyes are going to turn away from Barry Bonds, and look at the guy who may be the next person to be called the new “Home run king”Yes I have to admit that 2009 is off to a huge yet strange start. But let’s not think of all the bad because there is also a lot of good. The 1st black President, and cool new video games are all some great things that have been going on in 2009. So let’s sit back and get ready for a wild and crazy 2009!
