With the start of a new year and a new semester, we at The Skyline View are looking forward to a series of new beginnings, cliché as that may sound – not the least of which being the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Tuesday, Jan 20. The general consensus we’ve established is that President Obama is good news. While not wishing to sound negative, most of us feel that the administration under former President George W. Bush was not good for this country, and we are hoping that under President Obama policy will lead this country in a new direction – one that will, hopefully, help us get out of the economic “hole” we’ve been slipping into the past few years. The apparent friendship between President Obama and Rev. Rick Warren caused concern among opponents of California’s Proposition 8 in the crowd. But we at The Skyline View believe that with the “open” and down-to-earth attitudes that President Obama has displayed in the past, show that there is hope for anyone who believes they are being discriminated against. To take the cliché full circle, we are glad that we can start putting the less attractive policies of the previous administration behind us, and start hoping for a brighter future under President Obama.
