Many local artists participated in the recent art show, Politique Poetique which was on display at the Skyline College Gallery Theatre from Oct. 6-31.Politique Poetique looked into ways that artists could include political commentary into their artwork. The artists involved in the show were Juan Carlos Quintana, Cheryl Meeker, Matthew Rogers, Alberto Ybarra, Charlie Milgrim, Christine Ponelle, Bruce Chaban, and Suzanne Husky.The artists were selling their work. The prices ranged from over $50 dollars to over $15,000. Some of the artwork had deeper meanings behind them, some showed symbolism, whereas others were very blunt about what they were trying to present. The pieces reflected a lot of individual politics through the eye’s of the artists.The artist’s voiced their opinion on certain topics associated with politics and expressed themselves poetically through their artwork.There were various types of art mediums such as drawings, paint, oil, ink, video, c print, acrylic and even Jell-O. Overall, the show was a success and many students and faculty showed up to view the work.
