With the previous success of Lego video games fans were in awe when it was announced that Batman would be the next franchise to receive the Lego video game treatment.
The game consists of 30 missions, 15 hero and 15 villain. The game also includes most characters from the Batman mythos. Throughout the game you’ll use different suits for Batman and Robin to accomplish different feats. Other characters have their own unique abilities as well. For example, Poison Ivy can walk through poisonous terrain or you can use Clayface’s super strength to lift heavy objects.
As you play through the story mode and earn Lego studs, the game’s equivalent to currency, you are able to purchase new characters and vehicles. After beating a mission in story mode you unlock the free play mode for that level. This allows you to go back and replay a mission with the characters and vehicles you purchased. If you’re a game completionist you’ll actually have to replay the missions with various characters in order to get all the game’s secrets.
Aside from all the characters there are plenty of other reasons to play this game. For starters, you can destroy mostly everything you come into contact with. You also get bonus studs for breaking stuff. Some of the things you destroy can also be rebuilt for a variety of purposes. Don’t forget this is a Lego game so building things is an element of this game.
Other cool little things in the game include the gadgets you’ll be using to take down elements. It’s cool just watching your weapons as you give your enemies a beat down. Every character has a unique action animation. For example, Riddler consistently twirls his cane as he strikes his enemies.
If you’re a Dark Knight fan or of Legos then this game is for you, especially if you love both. With a co-op mode and plenty of replay value this game offers hours of fun for you and your friends.
