On Wed. April 16, a demonstration was held at CSM in honor of the victims that were killed at Virginia Tech and to protest the gun laws. The demonstration at CSM was led by student Chris Corgas, who spoke at the event, and led the lie in. A total of 32 students wore the Hokie colors and silently layed down on the ground for three minutes, to represent the amount of time that it took the shooter to purchase the guns. Demonstrations like the one held at CSM were held nation wide, and were attended by more than a thousand people according to bradycampaign.com, which is a site that deals with gun control laws. “The people who took part in these events are the people who see something that bothers them,” said Kay Holmen, southern California chapter president of bradycampaign.com. “They sit up and take notice; they take a stand in their community.” Disclaimer: Jennifer Culhane knew Chris Corgas outside of this event.
