Thursday night out on the town. Just got out of the hookah bar, and no where to go. Call up a friend for advice; she says to go to a club called Pop Scene. Without hesitation, we walk into the club, only to be totally thrown off by the style of music that was playing and eclectic dancing styles. Right away I got a bad vibe from the place.
The blaring Brit-pop, people dressed in dinosaur and bunny costumes, and exotic personalities dancing crazily all over the room was all but comforting. I do not recommend the Pop Scene for those of you who live and breathe hip hop and rap (much like myself).
I felt totally out of place and my friends and I were totally alienating ourselves from the crowd. The Brit-pop/rock is hard to dance to; the band playing had irregular beats and an obscene amount of screaming.
After getting to the bar area, we attempted to dance, but were stared at because our hip hop dancing was very different from what everyone else was dancing. I almost felt like I didn’t belong there. It made me very uncomfortable.
The thing that bothered me the most was how extremely crowded it was. It took pushing, shoving, yelling, and ten minutes for us to get from the door to the bar. Ridiculous. The place is way too small for a club.So as I’m sure you know, I was not fond of Pop Scene, but I guess it depends on your style of music.
I do feel that I wasted my $12 on an entrance fee to get into one of the worst “clubs” I’ve ever been to.
