Today fans and players alike leave the soccer field, overwhelmed with a since of grief. In a grueling match between two rival schools, our men’s soccer team takes a disappointing lost. Battered but not beaten, Canada College gets the “W” off a miss-fired shot from a skyline player. After 90minutes and 2 half’s in the books both teams looked fatigue as the match came down to the wire. Aggression and frustration plagued both teams and stoppage after stoppage for player injuries only slowed the games momentum. Though no one was seriously injured the crowd grew restless as many of the games calls seemed to be leaning in Canada’s favor. In the games 2minute time of stoppage defenses stepped up, though play was still seemingly sloppy on both sides of the field. Conditions intensified and slight rain followed by extreme gusts of wind made the match drag on as it began to incorporate into sloppy play. But in the games final minutes on an accidental play, our firm hold on Canada slipped at our lack of attention resulted in the games only score in our very own goal. Like a dagger in the heart a sea of “awww” followed by a flurry of insults displayed the crowds level of disappointment overall. Player Ronald Griffin, who typically is one of the teams main contributor sat out most of the game, but did not shy away when given the opportunity to give his feelings about the lost. “Yeah, it’s hard to believe we lost especially how we lost. Clearly we were way better prepared then they were, and they are just lucky they caught us when we were confused. I’m not taking anything away from their team; they played great and fought us the whole way. And while the lost was disappointing, we gave it all we had and we will definitely make sure that the next time we play our game will be errorless.” A sentiment clearly felt throughout the whole team, his words will surely result in a moral boost. Watch for our Trojans as they take on teams like Las Positas, Ohlone, and Mission College in the very near future. Most of which won’t be held directly on campus, but our support goes out either way. Go Trojans!
