As there are math teachers, science teachers and English teachers inside the classroom we have teachers that educate on the court, and this job belongs to Skyline’s new women’s basketball coach, Trisha Hosley.
Hosley was last year’s Assistant coach for Skyline. “My job is to coach, teach, and mentor these young women. My goal is to teach these young women basketball foundations based upon teamwork, commitment, work ethic, discipline, communication, and education so they can transfer what they learn and apply it to all other areas of their life,” said Hosley, the new women’s basketball coach
Hosley’s qualifications met all the standards that Skyline’s Athletic director Joe Morello was looking for with a four-year letter winner under her belt, taking part in three CIF state and Nor-cal and four Central Coast Sections championships, and also receiving a basketball scholarship from the University of Portland where she was voted team captain for three years.
“Her experience, she played at a four year level and went through the experience of being a student athlete, being recruited, and all those types of things,” Morello said.
Hosley’s goals next year is to establish and develop the women’s basketball program, inform local high school players and coaches about Skyline, and build a relationship with returning players.
“It is an amazing feeling to get the opportunity to do what you love every day,” Hosley said.
There will be women’s open gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m., if you are interested in trying out.
