Side projects for bands are usually a big “no-no”, but for The Color Fred, it’s an awesome decision to make. Coming from the emo rock band, Taking Back Sunday, Fred Mascherino captures the sorrowful emotion of never knowing an answer to a dreadful question. His voice is very calm and peaceful like a lullaby with a couple of lung-worthy distressed outbursts. Although he has an amazing voice as a screamer in TBS, he can’t quite hit the high notes and ends up struggling like a school boy going through puberty.–Marian Mesia
When you think of Slipknot, hopefully the first thing that comes to mind is rage. And when I say “rage,” you’d better start shaking your head around like a rag doll, because “Duality” is one of the best metal songs I’ve ever heard. Sure, the non-chorus lyrics are hard to understand, but that’s a fact with a lot of songs! The gnashing music is what you should be paying attention to, not the lyrics. Apparently though, all the lead singer’s got is insane, but that’s good, right?–Mike Whitebear
