Recently a lot of clubs have been going to Student Activities office and requesting tables. The office then asks facilities to deliver the table on the requested date. But what happens when facilities falls behind and doesn’t complete their job?
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing. The clubs can’t present their items, thus putting them behind schedule and wasting precious time they reserved. This happened to two clubs on Mar 5. Facilities failed to deliver two tables for two different clubs.
Was there a miscommunication along the chain of command? Did somebody forget to write down the order? Whatever the reason, it doesn’t excuse the fact they messed up. Yes, they are human. Yes, they do make mistakes.
However, it does not excuse the fact they messed up on a job which needed to be done.
Perhaps it is laziness which dictates the life of most of the workers at Skyline. How hard is it to pass a message down? To place an order? Apparently it’s very hard to do; they refuse to do it until the day it is supposed to be out there. They prefer to see the students running around; wondering where is the table they requested a week in advance?
Being professional is important. It shows that we can rely on someone to get things done. But if the facilities can’t even get one simple order right what does that show about our administration?
These minor mistakes must be avoided, even if it is just as simple as a missing table. Small mistakes lead to bigger ones.
We shouldn’t allow laziness to conquer our administration. We need to step up and get things done right. Organization is pressed on us throughout our schooling, especially in college. So when our faculty drops the ball, the example demonstrated by the faculty is not a good one.
