After only three months on the job Jeffery Hodges resigned as chief security officer at Skyline College, again leaving the position vacant.
Skyline President, Victoria Morrow, announced his resignation in her newsletter, “Skyline Shines,” on January 26.
“I am sad to report that Jeff Hodges has had to resign due to serious family needs. We were very lucky to have him for the past few months and will continue to benefit from the expertise he brought to us. We are moving immediately to seek a permanent replacement for him,” Morrow wrote.
This time around Skyline will not be searching for an interim chief as they did before when they hired Tommie Phillips Sr., who also resigned for personal reasons in July 2006, leaving the position vacant until Hodges stepped in to fill it.
Along with Hodges there were other potential candidates for the job, who may be called if the hiring manager chooses to follow that course of action. Meanwhile an advertisement was put out on several sites ranging from the community college job site, “the Registry” to sites like “CalJOBS,” and “Craigslist.” Since this is a specialized job, they are also posting on law enforcement recruiting websites.
According to Deborah Carrington, District Human Resources Manager for the SMCCCD, the ads will be open for a period of about three to four weeks before the interview process begins.
The search will begin in earnest, and Loretta Adrian, Vice President of Student Services hopes the campus will have a security chief as soon as possible.
“Hopefully we get some really good candidates and pick a great chief,” Adrian said.
