The Women’s Soccer team faced off against Foothill in a tough game on Oct. 17.
The game opened with a rush to the goal by Foothill College. Even though Skyline halted the first possession, Foothill set the tempo for the first half. Foothill’s five goal attempts compared to only one attempt by Skyline showed how the offense struggled throughout the game. Although Skyline was lagging on the offensive side, they compensated with tough physical defense and only trailed by one goal at the end of the half.
The second half of the game was a complete role reversal. Skyline’s offense finally showed what they could really do. Led by Aisling O’Flynn, Nancy Chicas and Melissa Roach, they produced more goal attempts by bringing an end to the offensive slum in the first half. Finally, with five minutes remaining, Skyline scored a goal. Both teams tried to capitalize on steals, but to no avail, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
“Sometimes the ball doesn’t roll your way, but we fought hard,” said freshmen Shelly Mattias.
