Jackass is back, and the shenanigans are bigger, better and more sickeningly hilarious than ever. Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and the rest of the gang are in their second full-length movie after the group’s four-year hiatus in which several of the members created their own solo projects, which in comparison to Jackass, were sub-par at best. “Jackass 2” takes the crew back to their hilarious and sometimes utterly disturbing roots of their comic genius. Sticking with the original style of comedy used in the first movie and the show, they still manage to re-invent themselves with stunts that caused the audience to cringe, gag and at many times, scream louder than any audience at a horror movie would. The atmosphere of the theater reflected that of the movie, people talking and laughing so much that even if a cell phone wasn’t on silent and the call was received, no one would have heard it.While the trailer for the movie was very intriguing, it does not fully do justice to what the movie presents. Yes, Knoxville getting hit by a bull while blindfolded is hilarious, but comparatively, that skit was one of the weaker ones when in contrast to skits involving pranks about terrorist threats and old women exposing themselves in public.Knoxville and Margera also enlist the help of celebrities, including classic celebrity guest stars Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman, but also bringing in actors such as Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers, Beerfest), who directed one immense flop, “The Dukes of Hazzard,” which Knoxville starred in. Many classic scenes from the first movie are incorporated into the new movie. For example, the opening credits are done in the same style as the first, only this time there were bulls instead of shopping carts. The ending also includes Rip Taylor reprising his role as the person who ends the movie in his worrisome and jumpy tone. But that doesn’t mean that Jackass doesn’t have some original moments.Jackass ends with a song and dance number very reminiscent of Mel Brooks, but outdoes Brooks by including some of their outlandish stunts into the number, all the while keeping with the themes and styles of the first movie. No matter how much they stick with the tried and true method used in the first Jackass movie, in no way does this mean that it will be a stale and stagnated movie to sit through. In fact, it is the exact opposite, and with all the dramatic movies that are out and will be coming out in the upcoming months in the hopes of Oscar nominations, this is a breath of fresh air for the average comedy lover.
