Now, as with everything we do, we like to do things safely. And since we live in America, we like things big. So when it comes to safety and size, nothing gets much bigger and better than airport security. Sure, security may have gotten a bad rap when 9/11 happened, but that’s in the past. Nowadays, the airports are doing everything they can to make sure nothing like that happens ever again. And they’re doing a great job as of late, I might add.
Sure, some people might complain that they can’t carry bottled drinks in their bags anymore, but I say that’s a good thing. I mean, who cares if you can’t put your Snapple in your bag? Snapple isn’t meant for packing, it’s meant for drinking. Also, it is entirely possible for people to make liquid explosives, you know. Bottles with the Coca-Cola wrapper on it make it easier to disguise the evil contents of the bottle, especially if the liquid contents are the same color as what the beverage is usually colored.
Now I’m sure that there are still naysayers out there that claim that airport security is far from perfect, and that terrorist attacks can still happen. My response to that is this: how do YOU know that an attack can still happen?

And suddenly there are seven Air Marshals tackling you to the floor.
This is the over-secure America we live in. Recently, because of a known terror plot on British Airways flights to the United States involving liquid explosives, many common liquid or semi-liquid products are now banned from airplanes. No longer can you bring that thirst-quenching beverage, or that tube of gel to keep your hairdo in place. You can’t even bring liquid medication on board unless you’ve got a prescription with a matching name, which would cause problems for many diabetics who need insulin daily to survive.
With these new rules on banned liquids, what can we expect from the future of airline travel? Will security be taking your mp3 players? Your laptops? Your right to carry a piece of luggage on the plane? What if the next time you fly, you’re required to wear a red jumpsuit and slip-on shoes like a prisoner? The way the world is reacting to these suspected terror plots, soon airline travel will be banned altogether.
The point is, there will always be danger wherever you go. No matter how much security improves, no matter how well the government tells us we’re doing in the war on terror, we’re still going to be susceptible to the attacks of lunatics and fanatics. Whenever a new security measure is implemented, there will be a madman with a bomb strapped to his chest waiting to get around it.
