How many more rappers have to die from pointless bickering? How many more feuds have to erupt because of music and songs? Music is a form of expression and should not be a weapon; music should not lead to someone’s death. Didn’t we learn from the Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. beef? We don’t need anymore deaths from this; we don’t need real gang violence in rap music. It’s bad enough that it’s promoted within the content of the music itself.
I understand the nature of the music is violent, but the fact of the matter is that life is more valuable than the music itself. Like when Tupac and B.I.G. had the whole West Coast against the whole East Coast, that was a very heated situation, a very volatile situation. In fact, I’m surprised something didn’t happen sooner than it actually did. Mainly because the situation was being blown out of control, music is music that’s all it will ever be. But when something is misunderstood, the only thing you can do is try to make it understood and make it right, not make the situation worse.
Tupac and B.I.G. just let everything get out of control. And in the end they unfortunately lost their lives. But the artists of today are not learning from the mistakes of the past, in fact their making a bigger mistake of their own. 50 Cent is calling out everyone he can, making enemies in every direction and every region and every part of the world, just so people know him. He’s just trying to get recognition as the “biggest and baddest” rapper alive, when it will probably mean his demise. That would be unfortunate because he’s a respected individual and there’s really no reason for him to act the way he does toward the people he does it to. He’s been acting like he’s the greatest rapper alive when he’s still a rookie compared to the legends and veterans. He just needs to learn from the mistakes of the past so he could remain in the future.
Rappers today aren’t learning from the past, they think they’re invincible. Everyone dies, but they seem to want to die sooner. Because they seem to live this lifestyle in their music that we see in movies and if it were true, they’d soon be dead. If these rappers were smart, they’d learn from past experiences, and basically learn from the Tupac and B.I.G. beef and basically coexist with each other so they could all get rich and famous and get nice cars and big jewelry. Rappers just need to learn from their past so they could see and live in the future.
