Every college-bound student has the dream of making it big, in his or her career of choice; seeking advice from a Counselor or Professional Advisor is the best way to go.
Guidance counselors and advisers are specialists in their fields and are available at all times to guide us in our career paths. They play a vital role in helping and assisting high school students, working adults and others with work and life experience to obtain college course credits.
I can recall the first time I received all of the literature on housing, financial aid, and course booklets. I was totally baffled with all of the information I received. All that information can be very overwhelming if this experience is new to you. Counselors are there for this reason, like helping you with questions regarding financial aid, student loans, or needing assistance to create a budget in order for you to afford to pay for classes you can seek their guidance.
This can all be very intimidating not only for students, but for their parents as well. Most students in high school are not aware that, generally, the earlier you apply for financial aid the better. Most schools have deadlines, and new students should contact the financial aid office at the school which they plan to attend to determine the deadline. Your eligibility is determined by your institutions financial aid office based on your financial need.

Many adults who have are seeking a degree are unaware of the opportunities available to them. You may enroll in a college or university with little or no knowledge that you are eligible for grants specifically for women, minorities, or people with special needs. There are many grants for which you may qualify by speaking with a counselor, you could find out valuable leads on obtaining such grants.
Counselors may be able to assist you with questions on being an at risk youth, diversity and tolerance on campus, dropout prevention, life skills, mentoring, parent education, professional development, remedial education, service learning and community services, special education, therapy & counseling, violence prevention, alcohol and drug abuse.

By going on-line, through email, fax, telephone, or voice mail you can utilize the services of technology and seek advice that may take you further on your career path.
If you have never spoken with a counselor or advisor you should make an appointment and discover how you can work with them to get closer to your dreams.
