Thumbs Up: Thumbs
Thumbs are awesome, for without them we all would rank lower than monkeys. And I have won far too many “thumb war” fights to let that happen. -JJ Valdez
Thumbs down: People who post emo things/bible passages/inspirational quotes as their facebook status message
Honestly, facebook is a social network, not a place for you to whine and moan about “no day will ever be as good without her” or try to inspire me with little sentences from the Bible or Gandhi. Going to facebook is supposed to be a fun method of catching up on peoples lives. I don’t want to listen to you whine about how much your life sucks (it doesn’t), and I sure as hell don’t want to read all these shamelessly copied quotes you’re posting to try and make yourself look wise. Going to facebook for inspiration and meaning is like going to a truck stop for fine French cuisine. I don’t need it, I don’t want to hear it, so for the love of god, STOP IT.-Andrew Lidwell
Thumbs Up: 49ers for finalizing a deal for Micheal Crabtree.
Finally we’ve got a bigger threat on the wings of our hard-nosed offense. Hopefully this will open up Vernon Davis and Issac Bruce in our pass game, and we can attribute more numbers and points on offense. GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!-Alfredo Varela
Thumbs Up: Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
Despite your perceptions about this movie, it’s much, much funnier than it appears to be. With comedic actors and actresses sprinkling the cast, the jokes are timely, funny and constant. The storyline is creative considering it stretches the plot of the original book that was 30 pages and primarily pictures. Don’t judge this movie by its preview because it doesn’t do this movie justice. Also, all the scenes of giant food just makes your mouth water. – Rachel Leung
Thumbs up: Starbucks VIA ready brew coffee
For all of you coffee aficionado’s out there, I’ve got some exciting news for you. Starbucks Coffee Company is now offering individually packaged microbrew coffee, which is perfect for travel and people on the go. I have never been a fan of instant coffees, largely because they lack flavor and seem to be more acidic than regular coffees. But, I was offered a sample of it and to my delight it totally surpassed my expectations of instant coffees. And, not only can this coffee be served hot by adding 8 oz. of hot water, but it can also be made into iced coffee by adding 8 oz. of cold water (you do have to shake it or stir it really well, though). At this point in time, they are only offering two roasts, an extra-bold Italian Roast, and medium roast, Colombia; they are still working to perfect an instant version of decaffeinated coffee. -Antoinette Estigoy
Thumbs Down: Bad phone reception at Skyline
It should be a good thing, but when you need to take important text messages or calls students and faculty need to have enough bars to receive calls. What if you can’t remember if you turn off your hair straighter? Or your kid sister is going over her friend’s house so you don’t have to bother picking her up at school.-Sofia Mas
Thumbs Up: Debating
I love debating. It’s very much a civilized way of arguing. It is by far one of my favorite pasttimes. I’ll even take a stand on an issue I don’t believe in at all for the sake of arguing. You have to remember, there are always, always, two sides to everything and debating is a good way to get all the facts and to see just how convincing you can be.-Joe Fogel
Thumbs Down: Lazy people
I hate quietly having to do things for other people who are too lazy and ungroundedly haughty to do it themselves. Being polite, reserved, and sweet is totally outdated. Screw civility. -Alyssa Capili
