Skyline Trojans vs Foothill Owls

The Skyline Trojans and Foothill went at it in a truly nail-biting game, leaving the whole auditorium on the edge of their seat.

In game 20 against Foothill College, right at the start of the first half, there was no playing around for Foothill College, with them applying hard defense on the Trojans, especially on point guard Elijah White and forward Daniel Afaeki. But even with Foothill College being aggressive on defense, the Trojans managed a three-point lead out of the first period.

When the second half kicked off, it became a truly tense game with only a three point lead for the Trojans. It was still anyone’s game, and it was clear for both teams that they needed to score quickly and manage a decent lead. But as it turned out, both teams were going back to back with, at best, only a 4 point lead.

As the second half progressed the overall performance out of the Trojans was simply all there. There were some turnovers and fouls but you can see the Trojans putting out an A for effort out on the court by working together.

At the last two minutes of the game, the heat was cranked up. With the Trojans leading by two points, it was pull forward or get pulled back. During the final two minutes, both teams were just going all the way with their fast break plays. Pretty much try to put down quick shots and keep the defensive pressure.

But at the remaining minute of the game it was clear the Trojans would rack up another win. With their eight point lead at the end of the game, the Trojans finally got on the offensive for the win. Nonetheless, the Trojans brought out their A game on the court and left people on the edge of their seats.

Head Coach Justin Piergrossi said the team played incredibly hard with focus.

“We played hard altogether, we moved the ball really well and we played better than the other team,” Guard Wai Min said.

Overall, the team was cooperative with one another and the coaches, and the whole team proved that they are ready to play and mean business.
