Although the Associated Students of Skyline College (ASSC) have been following the rules and regulations of the Brown Act by posting their agendas 72 hours before their official meetings, they had stopped posting them online for roughly the whole Fall 2025 semester, which could be a problem for online students who are curious about the meetings but are not able to visit campus.
From the beginning of the fall semester until Thursday Nov. 20, there were no agendas listed under the Fall 2025 section of ASSC’s “Agendas and Minutes” tab on the Skyline College website. Any student that was curious about the context of the meetings would have to venture to the second floor of Building 6, and there on a bulletin board just outside of the Student Life room would be the agenda for the next meeting.
Students who could not visit campus, such as online students, had no access to the agendas, as they were only available in person. Those looking to read past agendas and minutes would have to ask ASSC about it themselves.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, after The Skyline View inquired about the missing online agendas, Jarred Ramos, vice president of ASSC, responded in an email to us that the agendas and minutes were updated on the Skyline College website with every meeting they have had since Aug. 19. Ramos also said that he appreciated The Skyline View holding them accountable.
“Thank you for holding us accountable for that because I think it’s something that’s important to have,” Ramos said.
Ramos added that the Student Life Center is responsible for updating the meeting agendas and minutes online. He said that there was a disconnect in the workflow between the two organizations.
Ramos also mentioned that the matter was brought up to him earlier in the semester by one of the ASSC senators, but that they had to wait on Student Life to update the website.
“To edit the website, we need their permission,” Ramos said. “We can’t, as students, edit it on our own.”
Ramos also said that from now on, their workflow would be to post the agenda on the website alongside in-person near the Student Life room.

Upon checking College of San Mateo (CSM) and Cañada’s website for their student government’s meeting agendas and minutes, both college’s websites were up to date. Jing Ee Ong, vice president for ASCSM, said that their Student Life Center is also responsible for updating their website with the agendas and minutes.
The Skyline View also decided to look at the District Student Council’s (DSC) section on the San Mateo County Community College District’s website, and found that the DSC had stopped uploading their agendas and minutes after Oct. 2024.
District Student Trustee Michael Llanell-Vararaj said that the DSC was following the Brown Act by posting the agendas and minutes up at the district office near CSM. He added that since the DSC was not using the meetings necessarily to vote on actions that would use public funds, there was no need to post the agendas and minutes online.
“What we’ve mainly been doing as a district student council, is it’s been more of an unofficial thing, it hasn’t been making decisions as a student government group at the district level,” Vararaj said.
Vararaj added that the DSC meetings have mostly been a way for student governments from all three campuses to come together and express any problems that they would like addressed by him.
Vararaj said that in the future he will start updating the SMCCCD website with the DSC’s agendas and minutes for any students curious about the meetings.
