The men’s basketball team takes home another win

The Skyline men’s basketball team brought home another win Saturday night when they played against the Solano Falcons. Bringing their undefeated season record to 4-0, after a nail-biting game the Trojans came out on top by a score of 68-62. The game started with intensity with both teams being neck and neck.

About 12 minutes into the game the Trojans already had a head start with a score of 18-13. After forcing turnovers with strong defense the Trojans finally slowed the game down to their own pace, Elijah White (Number 3) drove to the basket to pull off a acrobatic layup making their score 20-13.

Throughout the first half of the game the team showed great chemistry, but tensions were running high when Solano gained the lead with a 3-pointer, forcing Skyline to take a timeout. After regaining focus, Skyline retaliated with a strong play from Elijah White (Number 3) driving the lane forcing another foul from Solano giving White the opportunity to regain the lead at 22-21.

The game continued leaving everyone at the edge of their seats, at the end of the first half the Trojans lead the falcons 34-30.

After a great first half, both teams brought the heat with the Falcons putting the first points on the scoreboard with a bank shot 3-pointer. The Trojans retaliate with a forced turnover and a fast break lay up from Dan Afeaki (Number 41). With the constant battle of scoring, the Solano Falcons gained the lead at 37-36 with 2 quick scores.

By this time of the game the crowd was overcome with great anticipation, but just in time the Trojans put points on the board along with great defense to force Solano into a timeout, after gaining the lead at 50-42.

As the game began to wind down, Errol Fernandez (Number 15) with a mid-range shot forced the first double-digit lead of the game. The chanting of the crowd began to grow louder as Solano began to close the lead with 7 minutes and 30 seconds left to play.

With great defensive efforts, Skyline furthered their lead to 61-56 with 2 minutes left in the game, and a timeout called by the Trojans. Although Solano fought hard to gain the lead, they ceased to do so, with the final score of 68-62 and Skyline adding another win.
