Facing a tough battle from a rival NFC team, the 49ers folded under pressure, falling to the Saints 31-17 after a decisive win last week vs. Detroit. Deuce McAllister’s constant pounding on the ground proved too much for the Niners, who find themselves 2-and-2, and returning home hopeful to gain a spark on the injury ridden Pats. JT O’Sullivan threw two interceptions in the end zone after only his fourth start since becoming the starting quarterback. Turnovers were hardly his own fault, as the offensive line never hit its groove and forcing O’Sullivan to be hurried almost every snap.
Across the Bay, Lane Kiffin and the Raiders saw nothing new – blowing a 15-point lead in a game they could have been easily put away. After several field goals and even a safety, Oakland’s defense was the story of the first half. However, the Chargers roared back to life in the final quarter, scoring 18 unanswered leaving all of the Raider Nation to mend their wounds. JaMarcus Russell was the only ray of hope for Oakland, standing poised and throwing bullets to his receivers. Oakland has a BYE this week to try to gather their thoughts and prayers (players).
