On Mar 24, 2008 Deena Tannous, 27, died peacefully at Seton Medical Center in Daly City. Late on Mar. 23, Tannous was with her family when something went wrong with her Tracheotomy tube, and she had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.Although she faced some challenges because she was in a wheel chair, Tannous never let that stop her from going to school and pursuing education.”She was different, I always admired her about that,” Annie Tannous, Deena’s sister said. “She was quiet at times, but she said what was on her mind.”Attending school was a challenge sometimes because she had to depend on the elevators at the school to get to most of her classes. She had a lot of trouble with the elevator not working, especially in building 8, where Katharine Harer tried to move her class to accommodate Tannous.”She was smart and feisty and she stood up for herself,” Harer said. “Deena was an excellent writer and a great life force.”
