Recently, a law was passed to stop 16 and 17 year olds from driving while on their cell phones, while another law allows adults to chat on hands-free devices. We at the Skyline View are confused; everybody should be allowed to use a hands-free device while driving. Maybe we missed something. Is a babbling, driving, hand-free device using 17-year-old more dangerous than, let’s say, a babbling, driving, hands-free device 25 year old? The leading cause in automobile accidents amongst drivers are the ones who are distracted by other car accidents. So, should we ticket people for being nosy too? We think not. We at the Skyline View understand why such a law would be created. The fact of the matter is, at the age of 16 or 17; one is relatively new to the driving game. Permits, fresh licenses and cell phones don’t mix. But we think the option to use a hands-free device should be based on personal responsibility. We at the Skyline View want to be safe just like you. But to make a law like this exclusive to a particular age group and to say that one is more dangerous than another, is just nonsense.
