When shopping for a computer, it’s obvious that you have to do your homework. The question you must ask is: “Which system will work best for what I want to do?”
There is a lot of controversy that comes along with buying a Macintosh. One is the feeling of selling your soul to a monopolistic company that has outsourced countless American jobs. Second, Macs are notorious for being inflexible. Yes, most models come in one-piece packages that save space, but Personal Computers (PCs) are personal, designed for you, and what you want to do. They may take up more space, but they’re easier to upgrade. You can go out and buy an extra RAM card, and fit it onto your computer just by following the directions.
Apple has been sued several times for being a monopoly, buying up patents for technology and holding them for ransom. Countless lawsuits against Apple Co. have taken place, as most recent as this year for having a monopoly on the digital music market and mp3 players. Dating back to the mid-1980s, Apple has been sued for anti-trust violations. If you’re a gamer, you’re out of luck, because most computer games are PC only. You can go to www.gamespot.com and see a list of PC games. If you have an iPod, all of the programs such as iTunes are PC compatible. Apple is not a company people should invest in or support. Everything that can be done with a Mac, can be done with a PC. All you have to do is call a PC company, tell them what you want, and they’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

In the past five years, Macintosh has become more of a powerhouse in the computer industry. It has surpassed the Personal Computer in power, peripherals and compatibility.
Macs were once considered un-cool, boring, and even useless. With a few revamping strategies, they have surpassed the quality of the PC computer.Even though Mac computers are little more expensive than the PC, they are able to do more for their money.
For instance, Macs come equipped with much of the important software that can be updated, in most cases, for free off of the Mac website. The standard features are perfect for the casual computer user as well as the hardcore video or music producer. The already built-in editing software is easy to use and allows for quality-finished projects. Macs are made with quality screens and top-notch graphics cards, so the computers are always visually stunning.
Now that Macs are more user-friendly, the gaming world has also embraced the new computers. Games are coming out with Mac, as well as PC versions of games because Macs have become so powerful that they are able to support the new innovations that the gaming community has created. For the longest time, PCs were the computer of choice for gamers because producers wouldn’t profit from making games for a niche market like Mac. But the increased graphics and power capabilities have turned more users onto Mac computers and in turn have brought even more outside revenue to them.
Unlike PCs, which have stagnated themselves with their own product, Apple has been using the revenue increase to make even more improvements. Recently, the incorporation of the dual processors, running both Mac OSX which is the main Apple operating system, and adding Intel as a secondary operating system, which is used by PCs to make Apple computers more accessible to PC users.
To cap things off, Macs have made their peripherals accessible to all computers, something Microsoft has yet to really do. The iPod is one of the most bought computer accessories as well as the leading brand for mp3 players.
Apple has been attempting to bridge a gap while making progress on their software, while Microsoft and PCs everywhere slowly fall behind.
