On April 6, a rare afternoon of mild and clear weather greeted the players and fans at Skyline College for the 7-2 victory of Trojans over Rams.
Skyline’s pitcher, Nick Regnart, kept up a vicious nine innings of throwing, cutting the Rams batting time impressively low. He struck out eight City College players and boasts five innings in which only three Rams were able to step up to the plate.
The cohesion and impressive teamwork throughout the Trojan’s playing shone throughout the game. In the fourth inning, Matt Lucchesi hit a pitch into a high and long sacrifice to left field, allowing a run even though he was caught out. In the same inning, Frank Kurnik swatted another ball into left field for a double that ended in another run. The tight teamwork stood out especially in the sixth inning, when Kurnik stole second while Nick Victor was at bat. Victor then knocked off a hit which allowed two Trojans across home plate.
CCSF, on the other hand, seemed unable to end their suffering. They tore through three pitchers in a futile attempt to end Skyline’s onslaught. Their offence was lackluster as well- most innings saw only three or four Rams at bat. After nine long innings, CCSF seemed eager to flee the abuse of the Trojans.
