The new designated smoking areas will be discussed at a forum called “Don’t Be Afraid To ‘Butt In” at Skyline’s gallery theatre on March 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Sponsored by the academic and classified senates, the main goal of this forum will be to assess how the designated smoking areas are working out for both the smokers and non-smokers on campus.
According to Fermin Irigoyen, Skyline’s speech professor and moderator for the forum, there will be a panel with representatives from the college. There will also be off-campus organizations available to discuss all issues and concerns around smoking on campus.
Irigoyen says he hopes that anyone passionate about the topic of designated smoking areas will come.
“We’re trying to find somewhere where smokers are respected as well as the non-smokers and that we’re able to get along,” Irigoyen said.
