Audible book review: The Confidence Code

In search of a book with some words of advice or some motivational drive?

“The Confidence Code: The science and art of self-assurance. What women should know” is a book that discusses some of the history of the most successful women in the world and how they dealt with their success. They begin with some of the most successful women and how they attribute their success to luck, that they were so lucky to have gotten to the position they have and not recognizing their actual hard work and intelligence is what got them to their success. The book discusses the topics of genetics playing a role in ones confidence. The authors go out and research the way the brain works to back up these claims. They also state how telling yourself you are good enough is not actually what makes up a confident person, but what does make a confident person is the risk taking and failing and owning the success they have achieved. Since a lot of their studies were done as a side by side comparison to the male brain and how male thinking patterns differ from the female. the things they discover has a common conception of males being very confident when it comes to negotiating for a job. While men often believe they are more than what they are actually worth, opposed to some women who have undermined their own worth and think they deserve less than what they ask for. These are just some of the topics discussed within the first few chapters there is a lot more to be discussed here.

Overall this book is not just for women, the authors discuss many things that have to do with the male and female brain. They explain that self doubt is in many people and explain how confidence works. It is not just for women even though the title suggests that. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know about the difference between men and women’s self confidence.
