Sons Of Anarchy: The plots thicken

Though devoid of the action and chaos of last weeks episode, this weeks installment of Sons Of Anarchy will not disappoint true fans with its twists and turns.

The ending of last weeks episode, without a doubt, was one of the more chaotic and explosive moments in the history of the show’s running. I’m sure the majority of viewers were wondering, as I was, how show creator/writer Kurt Sutter would be able to top the episodes finale with following episodes.

This weeks inclusion into the sixth season, entitled “Salvage,” is a relief with equal parts action and character development as we see the Sons moving in new directions, the return of old characters and the introduction of new ones.

The feel and overall theme of the episode was one of healing, with a focus on moving the club away from the past business partnerships that have seen the death of numerous members (some in this season already) throughout the series. Assumptions made by the majority of viewers, myself included, were proven wrong last night as we see partnerships, thought strained and destroyed, that are in fact as strong as ever.

We see Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) maturing as a leader and actually thinking outside of the box in order to address issues and problems that seem to, literally, be coming out of the woodwork more and more as the seasons continues.

One of the highlights of the episode, that won’t be too much of a spoiler, comes from Juan Carlos “Juice” Ortiz (played by returning Theo Rossi). Throughout the season so far, the character of Juice has gone through a change, becoming more of a hard edged soldier and less of the clown we’ve seen in previous seasons. It’s a change that works well for the character and makes sense considering what’s happened to him, and because of him.

Eli Roosevelt, played by Rockmond Dunbar, continues to be a favorite as the season continues and we get to see him thinking less like a cop and more like a human being. The fragile understanding between Roosevelt and Teller continues to grow as the two seek to keep things in “Charming” running smoothly while keeping the wrong people out and protecting the right people.

Without a doubt this weeks episode is my favorite of the season so far. I can’t go into details why, but there were numerous parts of the episode that I watched again and again. All in all, an amazing edition to a season that is shaping up to be the best of the bunch. Time will tell if the season will continue to amaze.
