The Skyline Trojan’s soccer team beat the Ohlone Renegades on Sept. 28

The game kicked off at 2:00 p.m. The crowd was not disappointed as both teams went on the attack immediately, making it difficult on team’s defenses. The ball was driven down the field by one team only to have it stopped and driven away by the other.

The Trojan’s offense drove towards the Renegades’ goal, coming close to scoring a number of times only to be stopped by the Renegades’ defense. Most of the game was defensive for both sides and it was just a matter of time before one of them would score.

The Trojans were able to punch through the Renegades defense to score the first point of the game with only a few minutes to the end of the first half.

Without wasting time, Head Coach Daniel Link took his team aside so that he could talk to them, which proved effective. As the second half of the game kicked off, the Trojans went on the attack and drove the ball down the field only to be stopped by the Renegades’ defensive efforts.

The Ohlone Renegades replaced their goalkeeper Michael Beigarten with Chris Lopez, a freshman. This wasn’t enough to stop two Skyline freshmen, Jeffery Mejia and Yoann Rosas, from scoring to put the Trojan’s at 3-0.

The third point clearly left goalkeeper Lopez frustrated. Attacking with everything they had, the Renegades didn’t give up. The Renegades’ Fullback/Midfielder Jorge Alcarez broke the possibility of a sweep with a successful penalty kick, ending the game at 3-1.

“They (the team) played well.” said Head Coach Daniel Link, when asked for his reaction to the game and how the team played. Coach Link also mentioned that the team as a whole has decided to focus this season and not allow themselves to be distracted by anything, including the Skyline View.

The Trojans are now 2-2 on the season. Their next game will be Oct. 9 at Las Positas for a doubleheader.
