Miley Cyrus “Wrecking Ball”

The first video you’ll see under the music section on YouTube is Miley Cyrus’ video for her song “Wrecking Ball.” As of this writing it has over 46,600,000 hits over the course of two days, and in comparison to popular female singer Katy Perry’s, her video for her song “Roar,” has had a little over 48, 500,000 hits over the course of six days. No doubt Miley wanted to create a buzz, and she did. Good or bad, she’s got people taking.

The song, which is a ballad, is emotion provoking for Miley. She is filmed solo singing as she cries. The video overall is provocative in itself which one can expect from her these days. It seems as though she is trying to break the role of Disney’s “Hannah Montana.” However, the reversal comes off abrasive and raw. That’s basically who she’s always been; we’re just seeing the sexual side of her.

She tongue kisses a hammer and swings atop a wrecking ball nude in this video to get the point across. She fully committed herself away emotionally and sexually to a “brick wall” so to say, and also she is not a little girl anymore. Though this new image Miley has been recently expressing herself as may be shocking for some of her longtime fans, for this video it works.

The video gave artistic representation of her lyrics. However, most guys probably aren’t watching it for that reason, which is probably what she was going for. We all know sex sells and one can’t help to wonder how many hits her video would have had if she was wearing a blonde wig, cowgirl boots, and glitter. And of course, clothes.

The video seems to get better the more you watch it. When it comes to music videos, it’s pleasing to see the lyrics acted out rather than random scenes that have nothing to do with the song. Guess this means a naked and vulgar Miley riding a big metal object is favorable. She gave all her cards away in this video and the only real problem she might run into is showing herself up in her next video.
