SparkPoint now open at Cañada College

A new SparkPoint center was debuted at Cañada College with a grand opening on Feb. 5, becoming one of the 11 centers in the Bay Area and the second on a college campus.

The non-profit, United Way of the Bay Area, provides services through each center.

“We have an overall goal to reduce poverty in the Bay Area,” United Way Director of Education, Ena Yashura Li said. “Sparkpoint is one initiative that we run through United Way through partner organizations.”

According to the Cañada College website, SparkPoint centers provide integrated financial and career services to assist families in achieving financial success and prosperity.

“Sparkpoint centers offer services in multiple areas,” Li said. “One area is around financial coaching or financial management including budgeting, goal setting, savings, debt management. It also focuses on job placement and career development, be it job training or skills.”
