Chris DeJohn

Chris DeJohn

Chris DeJohn is a professional drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana with over 20 years of “in the field” playing experience.

Aside from being an extremely well seasoned player, Chris is also an experienced teacher and band leader. On top of that he was the sole proprietor of his own musical instrument retail space (BeBop Music Shop in Baton Rouge, LA) for eight years before joining Eric Lindell’s band and hitting the road full time. During which time Eric’s band played countless sold out shows all over the country and were featured on XM/Sirius Radio and Late Nite with Conan O’Brien on NBC. Chris can be heard on Eric Lindell’s last national Alligator Records release, “Gulf Coast Highway”.

Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chris brings his swampy, down home feel to a number of local and national projects including A Stone’s Throw Records’ artists, Myron and E.

Some of the musicians Chris has had the pleasure of performing and/or recording with include George Porter Jr (The Meters), Bill Summers (Herbie Hancock), Eric Lindell, Luther Dickensen (The Black Crowes and North Mississippi Allstars), Zydeco Blues legend Rudy Richard, Kenny Neal, Guitarmageddon, Jimmy Leslie, Josh Clark (Tea Leaf Green), Dan Lebowitz and Steve Adams (ALO),

Adam Theis, Joe Cohen and Mike Olmos (The Brass Mafia), and a veritable who’s who of local South Louisiana and SF Bay Area artists.

Chris is currently in his second semester as a Journalism major at Skyline College and plans on transferring to SF State. Chris hopes to write for any sort of “music rag” once he finishes his degree.
