Pacifica’s 30th annual Fog Fest

The Pacific Coast Fog Fest continues to be a fabulous event for all. The Fog Fest celebrates the community of Pacifica as well as our neighboring coastal communities. This year marks 30 years of festivals and the celebration kicked off Sept. 26 and 27, with a parade and marching band competition. As always, the festival showcased wonderful entertainment, arts and crafts, and incredible food.

Many community based organizations take part in Fog Fest, including North County Prevention Program, Pacifica Public works and the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce to name a few. These organizations attend every year to educate the public and inform them of the services available. For example, NCPP comes as part of a collaborative that includes Daly City Health Center, American Asian Recovery Services and other organizations. They share resources related to alcohol and drug recovery, mental health and domestic violence. These services are available to all in the North county region. This organization says they have been successful in handing out information regarding services to festival-goers in the hopes that they can tell others about these same services.

Pacifica Public Works provides a broad spectrum of information. One of the main services they provide is in preparation for natural disasters.

This is valuable information for all San Mateo county residents, because it keeps them informed on what is happening in their community and how it directly impacts their lives. Not only can organizations like these attending Fog Fest help inform others, but it allows them to join or learn what it is they can do to possibly be an active participant or member of their community.

In addition to the information booths at the festival, there were many other types of activities offered, like BMX contests, parks and recreation activities for kids, live performances from bands, Tahitian and belly dance performers , art and jewelry exhibits, and many varieties of food.

Many of the Pacifica residents who attend the festival said they have been coming for years. It is an event that has proven to be very successful, both for many of the participants as well as the public that attends.
