Lose what you already lost

The Student-Failure Program provides resources and support for students who are either failing, failed, or will fail miserably in their professional and/or academic careers.

This intensive program offers a second chance for students who have already blown their second chances, covering a multitude of skills with workshops like: “L-I-E: The Three Keys To A Proper Resume” or, “Basic Human Competence 101.”

The dedicated counselors are there to provide people with support, to help students develop the best strategies for setting goals that they eventually won’t meet.

Each semester, students are promised success in their endeavors provided they stay focused, dedicated, and proactive during their college years, but what happens to those that don’t do that? What about the students who tried and didn’t succeed? Or the ones who never try but still want success? Don’t those students deserve something for the work they neglected to put in?

Here at Skyline, the Student Failure Program was created as that very outlet to give those students options after they had exhausted all others, without worrying about internal stressors like motivation or persistence. Dana Lopez, our program supervisor, is looking forward to the best year yet, as 4-year college admission rates reach the lowest in decades.

“I really think that this program fits perfectly with the Skyline student body as we deal with some of the biggest failures in the district, with some of our students being rejected before they even apply,” Lopez said.

“Our faculty is equipped to handle any student failure whether it be legitimate problems balancing work and academic life, or the more common difficulties students face with bouts of basic laziness, disinterest, and lethargy.”
