Skyline's wrestling team is the San Francisco State invitational Champions after beating out 12 teams from around the Northern conference. On Nov. 13, Skyline and 12 other teams met at San Francisco State University to compete for 1st place. The Trojans left with three champions and a trophy.
Skyline Trojans women's soccer team found out they didn't make the playoffs on Nov 11. They ranked 17th out of 16 teams to make the playoffs, .0142 power points behind 16th seed Ohlone College. According to women's soccer Head Coach Kevin Corsiglia, Ohlone had a record of 8-8-3, but had more power points than the Trojans because Ohlone had beaten, tied or lost to six teams with an above .
Men's soccer went to the playoffs for the first time in five years. On Nov. 16 the Trojans traveled to Saratoga to battle with the #8 ranked West Valley to stay in the playoffs. After a long 90 minutes of play, the Trojans were defeated by the Vikings 2-1.
The sports medicine clinic on campus can offer more than just treatment for injuries-it's a great place to gain hands-on experience in a variety of professions. The clinic mainly serves the needs of varsity student athletes, but Jo Silken, the woman in charge of the clinic, is always happy to help out others.
Eric Helmstreit is a 165 lb wrestler who has been dominating his weight class this year. Helmstreit has been consistenly strong all year and Coach Creighton says he needs to be recognized for his talent. "He wrestles really well," Creighton said. Coach has also said that opponents are scared of him and they should be.
