If you ever frequent the Skyline College cafeteria, you would know it is a hang-out spot for many students on campus: it's a discussion area, the Associated Students' turf, an Internet hotspot and a game room. Not a game room in the sense that there are foosball tables or arcade games, but the cafeteria hosts the kinds of games where people interact with each other, like cards.

"There were only two people chosen from the United States," Nikolai Shebalin said. "And one of them was myself, from Skyline College, a community college student, and the other one was a PhD candidate from Harvard." Shebalin, who is majoring in archeology here at Skyline, had the opportunity to excavate an old Viking settlement in a town called Starajaladoga, found in Northern Russia.
Pizza. Music. Games. Caramel apples. Dancers. Cheerleaders. Walking through the Skyline quad during the club rush was a lot like walking through an amusement park. From Oct. 26 to 27, like anxious children drawn to booths full of sweets and games, students gathered around tables that promoted Skyline's student clubs.
