Dia de los Muertos

The Skyline Art Gallery held a reception on Nov. 1, on the last day of Dia de los Muertos. The display showcased artwork from students, and food and music was available. Music was provided by The Skyline Jazz Quintet, who played for the whole event with 10 minute breaks between each song.

Skyline student hosts online radio show

AllDayPlay.fm is a site where Bay Area DJs, like Skyline student Kent Foster, can host their own radio shows.

R.I.M.E. Radio was created Skyline student Kent Foster (known as Kheemith) and co-DJ Simply M.O.

An acronym for "Ruthless Ill-Mannered Everything), R.I.M.E. radio plays mostly Hip-Hop and R&B, and is on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m

Skyline Honors program hosted an informal open event at the multicultural center down at building 4, on Oct 21. The events included members of the Honors Transfer program, Puenie, LEAP, FYE, Asian Students Program, and ASTEP and was meant to make students aware of the multicultural and the different program which now call it home.

On Monday Oct. 24th, Skyline College staged its annual Transfer Day for prospective transfer students. Over 25 universities were showcased at the yearly event. Representatives from many California schools (and some universities outside of California) congregated in the Skyline cafeteria to give students preparing to transfer information about their respective schools. Skyline College was treated to a performance by visiting Aztec dancers in honor of Latino Heritage month. The dancers performed in the quad on Wednesday, Oct. 12 to celebrate Día de la Raza, or "day of the race." Día de la Raza is essentially the celebration Mexico has to celebrate Christopher Columbus' discovery of the Americas.

Latino Heritage month panel 2011

The Latino Heritage month celebration for Dia de la Raza at Skyline was on Oct. 12, 2011. The panel was made of history professor John Ulloa, linguistics professor Luciana Castro, and Directer Andres Connell of Casa La Raza at Palo Alto. The panel talked about the history of education, the statistics of Latinos in prison, and Latin culture and language from a personal aspects and the importance of networking to ensure success and connect with other people.

Julia Hansen's World of Music class

Julia Hansen is a professor at Skyline College that teaches World Music on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Building 1. In her class you don't just listen to CDs, she will bring in artists to perform for the students. If you're interested in seeing performances like this, you should check the bulletin board outside of her office in room 1109.

Skyline college students present in the cafeteria on Friday, Sept. 15 bore witness to the infectious musical styling of Nerio De Grassi and his Latin Jazz Quintet. The performance was organized by the ASSC to mark the beginning of Latino Heritage Month.

According to San Bruno Fire Department Battalion Chief Charlie Barringer, the fire department received a call from a resident complaining about the smell of gas at 1:04 PM.
