So as we all know by now, starting fall of 2009, Skyline College will become a "Smoke Free College." Now I don't know about you, but I think this is a DUMB idea for many reasons. Incoming students who do smoke will not know that Skyline is smoke free, returning students will not have enough time to adapt to this new rule, and the fact that students need to smoke to get stressed off them are all reasons why I feel that this is a dumb reason to have a smoke free campus.
It's no secret that the school is in the middle of a financial crunch. Nobody seems to have any money these days, and with the economy in the state it is, you can't really blame them. But everyone who's walked on campus on any given day in the last several years knows that Skyline is undergoing a series of major renovations, planning to get everything from a new building to new pavement in the courtyards.
Students around the country are getting ready for summer to enjoy the hot weather and spend quality and fun times hanging out with friends and family. With only a few months to enjoy, some students' summers are cut short because of summer school. As the semester comes to closure, some teachers look forward to teaching students who may have to continue at a summer school session.
Michael Savage, the host of extremist right wing thought Savage Nation, has been banned in Great Britain on the account that his show advocates violence through support of his political and religious beliefs. With the legal guidance of attorney Richard Thompson, who says that the ban violates his "freedom of expression" based on a treaty between the United States and Great Britain.
As the weather changes so must our beauty products and wardrobes. Summer means clothes that show more skin (in a classy way), and skin products that make skin glow and protect it from sun damage. While for some, letting go of our go to winter and spring clothes and accessories takes an almost mourning period, but some winter/spring fashion shouldn't see the light of a summer day.
And that's it. Semester's over. This is the last issue that's hitting the stands until fall. That's given us a lot of things to think about over here, and not just in terms of news. We have done our best in picking out a healthy choice of stories to end on - stories that will, hopefully, have enough of a shelf life that you'll still be interested in reading them by the end of summer.
There is dissent among the staff members at The Skyline View. The track of discussion? Skyline's new Chief of Public Safety, Officer Brian Tupper. We at the Skyline View feel that when you look at the district level, these changes are definitely for the best.
Thumbs Down: Doing Laundry Admit it. Your life would be a lot better if laundry just washed, dried, and folded itself instead of you having to get up and do it. -Andrew Lidwell Thumbs Down: eBooks Media technology has enabled people to purchase eBooks and kindles, which is the device eBooks are downloaded onto.
