Skyline elects new ASSC

After a weeklong election, Skyline's ASSC has officially announced the result of the student governing positions on May 21. As the Spring 2008 semester comes to a close, a new ASSC will be governing through the Fall 2009. For the first time in Skyline history, all ASSC election votes were submitted online.

Canada Student dies at Giants ballpark

An argument that took place outside of AT&T Ballpark on Friday May 9, resulted in the death of 18-year-old Anthony Giraudo, Canada College student. Giraudo was leaving the ballpark with some friends when he got into an altercation with 18-year-old Taylor Buckley.

Let's be honest. Most of us here choose the classes we choose because we need the credit. We're trying to knock out our general education courses so we can transfer out of here as soon as possible. For most of us, credits are all the motivation we need. It would be nice to think that learning is our main goal, but generally speaking, the credits are the major motivator for being here.

The Black Student Union's (B.S.U.) first Blackout week was an experiment that resulted in success. There was some secrecy behind Blackout when it was initially announced. This was purposely done to build curiosity amongst students and hype up the event itself.

Date/Time: June 7, 12 p.m. Place: Shoreline Amphitheatre Price: $10.53 Lineup: Cypress Hill, Pennywise, Flogging Molly, Alkaline Trio, The Kooks, Everlast, Anti-Flag, MGMT, Atreyu, Moby and more. This is by far the cheapest BFD to date. Although it is definitely a bargain, the price might have something to do with the fact that this year's lineup is the weakest in recent memory.

Skyine baseball looks towards success

Considering that the men's baseball team lost two of their best players before the regular season even began, going to the playoffs ranked number 13 in the state is not so bad, not so bad at all. Though they lost in the first round of the playoffs, in a three game playoff versus the number four ranked Sierra College two games to one, Head Coach Dino Nomicos said, "It was a good way to end the season.
